ABSTRACT
THE DATA CENTER MANAGER MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH THE OPERATION AND USE of Various types of equipment to operate the data center effectively and efficiently. Possibly the most important type of equipment, however, is an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system. Originally designed to provide battery backup in the event primary utility-provided power was lost, today’s modern UPS system performs additional functions beyond the scope of the traditional UPS. The acquisition of a UPS system, therefore, involves the consideration of a number of features beyond battery backup time.
