What does this mean in reality? How are strong leaders identified and developed at Virginia Mason? In this chapter we explore the organization’s leader ship selection and development process first by describing various initiatives that strengthen leader ship development and then by detailing the experiences of five executives whose paths to leader ship convey important lessons.
