ABSTRACT
Cases like the Michael Brown officer-involved shootings are high profile cases with extensive media attention. Law enforcement agencies and the officer may be held criminally or civilly liable. The team should also include detectives, an assistant state attorney or state attorney’s office investigator or United States (US) attorney and US attorney’s office investigator, forensic personnel as well as subject matter experts depending on the specifics of the case. The crime scene investigator responded to the shooting scene and was briefed by the captain of the forensics unit about the specifics of the incident. The assistance of the crime scene team is also required for multi-agency investigations, for example, drug investigations, human trafficking, and human smuggling. The crime scene team will enter the premises of the grow facility after a search warrant is read or the owner provided consent. The crime scene investigator will perform the basic crime scene investigation procedures of documenting, photographing, sketching, and marking of physical evidence.
