ABSTRACT
The dictionary defines discernment as the “ability to perceive by sight or some other sense or by the intellect; to see, recognize, or apprehend.” In the world that I have been discussing, it is the ability that determines whether you will live or die. It is the one gift that police and informants have in common and the one they both depend on for survival.
