ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we look at infections that occur in the blood and lymph. We will first look at pathogens in the circulatory system and why the danger of systemic infection requires that they be dealt with quickly and aggressively. We will then move on to bacterial, viral, and parasitic pathogens that always use the blood and lymph in the course of their infections, and we will see that several of these infections involve transmission by vectors.
