ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the basic concepts of various mass-transfer processes and dimensionless criteria for interphase convective mass transfer, the laws of Henry and Raoult, and the determination of mass-transfer coefficients for two-phase systems. Mass transfer includes: mass output, where mass transfer occurs from the interface boundary in the volume of flow; mass transfer, where mass transfer from one phase to other occurs through the surface of interface phase; and mass conductivity, where mass transfer occurs in the volume of porous body. One of the main models of a mass transfer, which are widely used in numerous works, is the film model offered by Uitman and Luis. According to this theory, in a stream kernel concentration constant and process of transfer is described by the stationary equation of molecular diffusion in thin interphase films on condition of phase balance on limit of the section of phases.
