ABSTRACT

Cyber-Physical Systems belong to the next generation of embedded ICT systems that are becoming pervasive in every aspect of our daily life. The most complex problem in the domain of cyber-physical system is to ensure the security against cyber-attacks. The aim of this chapter is to analyze the threats and attacks in various cyber-physical system domains and discuss the defensive approaches for preventing the attacks. Different security studies have been compared in the study of the issues and solutions in the estimation of cyber-attack consequences, attack modeling and security architecture deployment. The attacks targeted at various layers of cyber-physical system along with single layer and multi-layer solutions are discussed. A security framework is proposed along with risk mitigation approaches for cyber-physical system. Directions for future research are also presented.
