ABSTRACT

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) have spread across extensive areas and is used to gather a huge amount of information that is used for data analysis and decision support systems. It is defined as the integration of various heterogeneous infrastructures that generates information for further smart analysis. The objective of this chapter is to provide a brief introduction about CPS and discussion on the vulnerabilities that prevail in CPS. Moreover, several earlier research works have been presented in detail. The following sections deal with vulnerabilities that might transpire in each layer and the countermeasures to prevent or mitigate the risks are presented. A detailed assessment of vulnerabilities in various CPS like ICS, DCS, and smart grid are analyzed.
