ABSTRACT

This article describes the nature of appreciative inquiry (AI) and what is involved in it. It is, essentially, an organizational intervention that is based on the premise that every organization has strengths and a history to be proud of. The process brings those strengths and proud moments to the fore, as a way to help regenerate people's optimism and hope, as they enter a significant planning process. The article describes this planning process in overview. For an in-depth description of the four stages, the reader should see the resources mentioned at the end of the article.
