ABSTRACT
Recent advances in cancer treatment have improved life expectancy and quality of life in patients with haematologic or solid malignancies. The outcomes of cancer patients in critical care units have also been improving. Cancer patients may require admission to a critical care unit for:
• Management of complications associated with the disease and treatment. • Administration of specific cancer therapy (usually performed in specialist units). • Postoperative care.
