ABSTRACT
Drug overdose may be accidental or intentional as seen in suicidal or parasuicidal patients. The number of drugs available is enormous and clinical presentations vary greatly. However, basic and advanced life supportive measures remain the mainstay of treatment and the majority of patients will recover without the need for specific measures. A systematic approach to assessment and management comprises resuscitation, substance identification, drug elimination and specific treatment.
