ABSTRACT

When supporters praise a total productive maintenance program (TPM), they usually talk about how it helps their company make the workplace cleaner and reduces downtime.

The program developed since 1999 at the Parker Abex NWL plant in Kalamazoo, Mich., has certainly done that – and Rich Soderquist, the man in charge of the program, is quick to say so. But Soderquist prefers to talk first about what the program has done for the company’s employees.
