ABSTRACT
It is quite important to know how good speakers introduce the key issues in their speeches. This chapter discusses some of the most commonly practised strategies of introducing the central issue in persuasive oratory. It highlights how skilled orators prepare the context for enhancing their issue so that it gets sufficient thrust. The appropriateness of directness and indirectness in stating the central issue is also discussed with suitable illustrations.
