ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 brings into focus how all the language arts for Robortello share the aim of educating human beings in order to direct their behaviour: in other words, to help them develop the habit of ethics, that is prudence, which allows for correct decisions and pursuit of moral precepts. It is by prudence that the human being can act effectively in society. The chapter examines how for Robortello there is a public function for all the language arts, which has to do directly with the constitution of the political order being legitimated not by force or wealth, but by the good that comes from knowledge.
