ABSTRACT

This chapter provides one scenario for each grade level that will allow teacher teams to practice sorting students into Columns. There will also be information listed for additional diagnostics given, along with notes to think about for each child. This will help teachers think about why children are placed in each Column and what should be considered for each. Needed foundational reading skills are the same, regardless of grade level. If these foundational skills are deficient, regardless of the grade level of the student, they must be mastered. If they are not, the teacher should identify the deficit and match an intervention to remediate. For grades K-1, teacher will need to know what their school uses to measure letter names, letter sounds, and phonological awareness. teacher will need a percentile score for these subtests to know where to initially place students.
