ABSTRACT

Career goals need to be considered within the context of other life goals. The life wheel activity can be used to reflect on your goals for each section. You may want to change some of the headings or add new sections if other things are particularly important to you. Once you have the headings, it is helpful to set a time frame (e.g. five years). Then think what your goals are. What would you like to be happening in each section? Then consider how the different sections interact and any priorities or overriding themes. Next spend a few minutes reflecting: if your goal represents a score of five out of five, what is your current score? This will help you to identify the biggest gaps, and you can identify any actions you want to take. This is a helpful activity to revisit every six months or so to capture any changes.
