ABSTRACT

To bring about a change in the productivity of our own organization or our own department that change should be approached as any other change effort. Any needed action identified in the previous phase to prepare a change environment is taken before the next and fourth phase of implementation and evaluation. An approach to maintaining and stabilizing productivity is to integrate productivity into all the organizational systems, i.e., new employee orientation, goal setting, financial management, performance evaluation, and reward and recognition. The change effort itself is implemented and criteria for success of the effort evaluated. The American Productivity Center has helped organizations turn their productivity obstacles into opportunites by using a “sequence for productivity success”. The “sequence for productivity success” model is not complex. It involves the phases of awareness and education, strategic planning, assessment, tactical planning, training and implementation, and maintenance and evaluation.
