ABSTRACT
Managing the literature is a long-term general process. At the formal end of the rigor and formality spectra might be a research project that carefully analyzes a body of literature in search of some insight. If the literature is a conversation among scholars, and each piece only a part of that conversation, then each individual work will make most sense in comparison to other related works. The field of literature is the published manifestation of the conversations among scholars on issues of relevance. Managing the literature well is not just having an understanding of the people and their theories, it is a task demanding resources. There are disparate aspects of the general practice of engaging with academic literature in the process of research design. Trying to manage a whole body of literature entails issues not relevant to reading individual works.
