ABSTRACT
This chapter investigates three different modes of auto/biographical expression; theatre, radio/podcasts, and the interview. It focuses on three key issues; first, ethics–our responses as writers and readers to the life stories of others, not least when centred on trauma; second, form–the crucial question of how life stories are given different form in different media, and the importance of analysing those formal qualities; and third, process–how the creative and the critical process must in some sense leave the individual and “real events” behind. Finally, it emphasises how the qualities of each medium influence the form of auto/biographical narratives.
