ABSTRACT

Good plans project a coherent strategic vision for the future that can guide the management and excite the employees. They reflect a thorough understanding of institutional dynamics that govern the behavior of personnel within the organization. Good plans begin with gathering sufficient information upon which a sound understanding can develop. Most of the work of the planning group will be done in a series of meetings, one of which should be a multi-day, offsite planning retreat with all team members in attendance. The corporate strategy defines the portfolio of activities that are most consistent with the mission of the enterprise. The implementation of the strategic plan is a project that serves the ongoing life of the enterprise as a whole. The collection, analysis, and communication of data are essential aspects of the corporate feedback system that allow top management to have contemporaneous pictures of the state of health of the enterprise.
