ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on what the consequences of poverty are for quality of life, including how to cope with poverty for those living in poverty. It describes life for people in poverty in general, but also deals specifically with children, in-work poverty and the elderly, thus including a life and generational perspective on poverty, including the impact on poor people and whether they are happy. It shows the dire consequences of growing up in poverty, and also that the poor have a lower quality of life than others.
