ABSTRACT

Safety is of prime importance in today's world. Various safety measures must be implemented in households, educational institutions, and workplaces. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has wide applications in homes, industries, and automobiles as a fuel. This work proposes the design of a microcontroller (MCU)-based circuit to detect leakages and monitor the gas levels in an LPG cylinder. If the gas quantity goes below a predefined minimum level in the LPG cylinder or in the event of a leakage, immediately an SMS or email message via Internet will be sent to the mobile number of the customer. Further, if LPG levels in the air exceed a predefined level, an immediate alert via SMS will be sent to the customer's mobile device. The proposed system may also alert people in the home by activating the alarm connected to the light-emitting diode (LED) and buzzer and showing a warning message on the liquid crystal display (LCD).
