ABSTRACT

Technology advancements and the need for automated devices have influenced the concept of ubiquitous computing. With the growth of interfaces for communications, the complexity of services and security has increased. This chapter describes trends in and impact of ubiquitous computing. It further discusses the characteristics, hurdles, and application areas of ubiquitous computing, along with outlining a working model for ubiquitous computing. The chapter concludes with elaborating on various technologies that are using ubiquitous computing and the related security issues.
