ABSTRACT
This chapter will include a brief explanation of what an effective secondary environment looks like for students, staff, and community members. It will also include specific qualities of schools that research has found to lead to greater school completion, prevention of dropping out, social and emotional learning, safety, academic success, and post-secondary success. Identifying these key components of an effective secondary school will help frame intervention approaches.
