ABSTRACT
Dmitrii Sergeevich, I remember at the beginning of the 1980s we discussed the 1000th anniversary of written culture of the eastern Slavs. Now our discussion centers around another 1000th anniversary-the acceptance of Christianity by Rus'. But our written language is older than the generally accepted 1000-year date, and Christianity penetrated Rus' long before its official introduction.
