ABSTRACT

Scholars and statesmen can begin an expansive exploration of alternative world futures in an attempt to identify an appropriate "mix." There are three principal dimensions that might be used to characterize and "design" an improved system of world order. These dimensions are Structure, Process, and Context. In order to avert the overwhelmingly destructive global nuclear catastrophe that is rooted in the "realist" path, decisive steps must be taken to involve world leaders in a more promising definition of national interest. With the explosion of the myth of "realism," the global society of states could begin to come together in a renewed understanding of the connection between survival and relatedness. When this happens, states will finally consummate their search for planetization. Any one of the new models may be investigated from the standpoint of planetization and freedom from nuclear terrorism. In view of the terrible urgency of nuclear terrorism, an improved system of theory represents the necessary first step to planetization.
