ABSTRACT
Social and historical commitment was Che Guevara’s outstanding virtue, and he took it to heart to enrich his personality, broaden his individual potential, and shape his character as an artist might. He found deep satisfaction in the correspondence between his individual character and commitment to the revolutionary cause. Che endures not only because he was a brilliant man of action but because his action went hand in hand with a tireless search for correct ideas, for freedom and justice, for social equality among human beings. The discovery of economic-social methods of conscious management to counteract the spontaneous action of contradictory particular interests is an intellectual feat that should inspire the deepest reflection. This is one line of thought that researchers might well consider in examining the currency of Che’s ideas. The symbol of Che that has spread around the world stands for a vocation of service to humanity in action and thought.
