ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on assessment strategies for the identification of targeted parents and whether their presentation fits with what would be expected in cases where a parent has been the victim of a campaign of alienation. Further, this chapter examines ways in which allegations of abuse and maltreatment can be assessed for their veracity. This includes both risk of abuse of children and risk of violent behaviour towards the alienating parent. Finally, this chapter investigates strategies for assessing the psychological impact on the targeted parent of the alienation campaign, including the need to assess suicide risk.
