ABSTRACT

The second and the third steps of Agile Integrated Methodology for Strategic Business Intelligence involve discovering and prioritizing Business Intelligence (BI) opportunities in order to create a prioritized BI portfolio of possible Proof of Concepts (PoCs) initiatives. This need for a prioritized portfolio is based on the premise that it is unlikely that organizations, especially small and medium enterprises, have the resources to address all BI opportunities at once. This chapter describes how these initiatives can be identified and prioritized, then, depending on the resources available and the resources needed for each, the top initiatives can be selected for implementation as PoCs. The development of this prioritized portfolio requires an understanding of the stakeholder needs and identifying possible opportunities for the organization in terms of strategic BI. It is important to gain a thorough understanding of the organization's business, and discover BI opportunities that align with the strategic initiatives of the organization.
