ABSTRACT

Politicians and bureaucrats are an integral part of the administration in both the central and local government in Bangladesh as a post-colonial state in South Asia. They play a vital role in the pursuance of governance and development. However, it is very difficult to distinguish which model of relationship is prevailing to politicians and bureaucrats in Bangladesh, and how the relationship affects the performance of governance and development. Therefore, this study explores the politics-administration relationship and its effects on governance and development in Bangladesh from the empirical perspective. The first chapter outlines a general introduction on politics-bureaucracy relations, reviewing the literature and the state of the art, emphasizing the value of this research in the literature of knowledge. In doing so, it explores contextual background, research questions, aims and objectives of the book.
