ABSTRACT

Enzymes, polysaccharides, edible mushrooms, bioplastic, biocements, admixtures to cement, pigments, fertilizers, and biofuel can be produced from liquid or solid organic wastes. The recovery of metals can be used in the treatment of industrial wastewater. The transformation of sewage sludge into organic fertilizer, recovery of organic acids, phosphate, and ammonium from reject water could be value-added byproducts of municipal wastewater treatment. A quiz bank is added to this chapter.
