ABSTRACT

Networked vehicle systems. With the development of electronically controlled systems such as fuel and ignition and automatic transmission, it became evident that considerable advantage, in terms of vehicle performance and driveability, was to be gained by coordinating the activities of these and other systems. The controller network system CAN of the Robert Bosch organisation is universally employed, and the basics of this system are covered in some detail. For diagnostic, an approved scan toll is connected to the standard type of diagnostic port. It is then possible to read out fault codes and, if necessary, to activate actuators to test them against manufacturers’ data.
