133 Summary

Aristotle said, when story dies we are left with decadence. The responsibility of the press, recognised by its Fourth Estate 1 role as advocate and political watchdog, is to investigate the facts and write and report the story. In a convergent ecosphere where video is critical to driving traffic across screens and platforms, writing is still a key binding agent. Mojos write video and audio scripts, pieces to camera, and narration to segue between grabs and bridge story moments. They write headlines and introductory paragraphs for online stories. These skills enable mojos to write in and out of pictures and sound bites. This chapter introduces these skills and provides Break-out Boxes of tips by eminent radio and video journalists, including award-winning RTÉ mojo Philip Bromwell.
