ABSTRACT

A variety of scattering problem viz. a line, a semi-infinite crack in an isotropic as well as in transversely isotropic media is analysed. Also studied is the scattering/impact response of a half plane crack in an isotropic and transversely isotropic media. Each of the scattering problems involves the formulation via the Fourier integral method and judicious use of the Wiener-Hopf technique. In the case of impact response of a half plane crack in a transversely isotropic medium under constant shear loading, one needs to study a coupled system of Wiener-Hopf equations. The stress intensity factor is obtained.
