ABSTRACT

Various numerical methods are briefly reviewed for both elastostatic and elastodynamic crack problems. In particular, the body force method is illustrated in three-dimensional elastostatic crack both in semi-infinite and muti-layered media. Methods to avoid the divergence in the hyper singular integral equations are discussed. Some of the current methods of regularisation techniques in forming the non-hyper singular integral equations are discussed The rest of the Chapter is devoted to the discussion the currently used different Boundary integral methods for two-dimensional crack problems in anisotropic media, both for traction boundary condition as well as the displace discontinuity method are discussed. The chapter ends with the discussion of the alternative element free BIM method.
