ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors discuss trauma treatment principles, which are broad guidelines that clinicians can apply to all client cases in order to maintain a comprehensive perspective of phase 2 of the trauma recovery process. Following this section, various trauma-specific treatment models are presented, and the chapter concludes with a discussion of several common trauma-specific interventions, which are utilized in several of the models highlighted. Cautions and clinical considerations are also addressed and outlined. Case examples are presented to illustrate the concepts, and the chapter concludes with a keyword assessment, list of experiential activities, and supervisory discussion topics.
