ABSTRACT

This chapter targets aspects of the intake interview that directly contribute to the case conceptualization of the client presenting with trauma-related concerns and problems. The general format for intake interviews will be discussed, and then followed by a deeper exploration of trauma-related features and issues that often accompany these domains, which include aspects of trauma in daily living, the interaction of trauma and relationships, historical information in connection with trauma, and the dynamic between personal traits and trauma. Case examples are presented to illustrate the concepts, and the chapter concludes with a keyword assessment, list of experiential activities, and supervisory discussion topics.
