ABSTRACT

The third and final group of SPADES steps is SPADES Steps 6–7: Progress and Annual Reviews. Returning to the ship analogy, when traveling to a distant port, the captain and crew regularly monitor the ship’s location, fuel levels, weather, and currents the entire way. These checks are required so as to make necessary course adjustments to ensure they reach their planned destination without disruption. Similarly, once a strategic plan is developed by an organization the deployment and implementation need to be monitored. These regular, periodic reviews need to include analysis of the deployment and implementation metrics established in the prior SPADES steps. This provides the data necessary to develop corrective action plans to adjust for changes in the business environment, personnel, and technology. The frequency of the reviews needs to support the deployment and implementation milestones, and the length of time and quantity of resources required to develop and execute a recovery plan. Initially, the frequency may be monthly and then adjusted as circumstances dictate. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429319884/855ae614-8332-4e95-bdca-2c1780b086b4/content/fig_pg71_B.tif" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/>
