ABSTRACT
Jahangir’s proclamation regarding the ‘chain of justice’ and the code of conduct by and large prevailed. In fact, customary laws existed generally and Quranic law prevailed predominantly in the Muslim domain. Jahangir prohibited the cutting of noses and ears but death as a punishment often occurred.
