ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at James White’s bill and the attempts to amend the 1967 Abortion Act. It also analyses the tactical decisions the sponsors of the bill made in order to restrict access to abortion. It considers the medical profession and their changing attitudes to abortion law. This chapter also looks at the Select Committee and their questioning of the authors of Babies for Burning. Finally, Dee looks at the ways in which different politicians reacted to the proposed amendment, and how this ultimately destroyed the James White Bill.
