ABSTRACT

In this chapter I discuss some of the political activities I engaged in over the years in response to the mental health regulatory system’s contradictions and hypocrisy. Often the intent of these regulations was to constrict the effectiveness and range of the role of psychologists. My advocacy activities included meetings with various legislators at city, state and federal levels; presentations organized for legislative hearings; panel discussions participated in; speeches given at professional association functions and meetings; and Letters to the Editor of various periodicals. (Some were even published!)
