ABSTRACT

The emergence and use of Systems of Intelligence (SOI) will create some demanding and complex information management challenges for Health Information Technology (HIT) vendors and the clients they serve. The reality is that the HIT vendor market is at varying stages of technology maturity with the introduction and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). When looking at the potential for extending the value of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) through SOI there are various ways to increase the value derived from the data while improving the clinician’s experience. The focus of such efforts is to use AI to make interactions with EHRs more customized and personalized. AI is improving system efficiencies through intelligent inventory control, which takes advantage of AI to provide advanced decision support to pharmacy staff to optimally managing medication inventories across an organization. The adoption and use of EHRs is ubiquitous across the healthcare industry.
