ABSTRACT

A large proportion of the Indian workers are employed under regular-casual and informal conditions. Information technology (IT) is one of the industries where people who do ancillary jobs belong to this category of employment. This chapter describes the method and design used to survey the workers’ life conditions in the cities and the rational of sampling method and size and the choice of city selections where the IT companies are located. The quantitative data is provided in tabular format. The last section notes the limitations of my research method in a multi-ethnic, linguistic and religious environment.
