ABSTRACT

This chapter, ‘Occupations of the Tribal Communities’, describes the occupations that the respondents are pursuing for their livelihood. A table depicts clearly the types of occupations the respondents of each tribal community are following. Some tribes are found to be pursuing their traditional occupations, while others are given to ‘modern’ but menial occupations. The collection of scrap or kabad and wage labour are most common. Other details deal with their seasonal cycle of work and the number of days they are engaged in.
