ABSTRACT

We see the discovery happen onscreen and the difference it makes—“a life changing.” A screenwriter is writing a screenplay, not just a scene. The goal is to write a small story about a discovery and the difference it makes to a character. One way to dramatize the difference a discovery makes is to show the shift—however subtle—in a character’s life. The best stories are patterns of discoveries. When a screenwriter has created a pattern of change out of one or more discoveries, he/she needs to decide how the screenplay will end. As a screenwriter rewrites, the guidelines which might help a screenwriter along in the process of rewriting include: to ensure the screenwriter is giving readers the best script he/she can, however many drafts this may take; and getting feedback, responses, from the right kind of readers.
