ABSTRACT

The process for writing Intercambios arose from the frustrating experience of a previous short film, We Are Many. That picture made the author realize that he wrote scripts from an unemotional place, thinking about what he wanted the final film to be and working backwards until he found a story that could make that possible. Finding an idea that resonated with a newfound dramatic purpose took some time. The author was asked to pitch at least eight ideas for his next short film. Intercambios was actually the last one to “join the party.” The goal closest to the author's heart is still to make a feature film because he truly believes that the feature film narrative structure is and has always been the superior format for visual storytelling.
