ABSTRACT
We are often warned that what we post lasts ‘forever’, and Facebook positions itself as a steward of digital remains for an indefinite period of time. Are we destined to live on digitally or will we be obscured in the shadows of a 21st century Dark Ages? How should we respond to these polarised possibilities? This chapter critiques the idea that our lasting legacies can be preserved on social media.
