ABSTRACT
In today’s modern society, information systems (IS) and big data can be found everywhere. It is so common that higher learning institutions have also implemented them in the academic field. Many improvements in the education system have been made by using IS and big data. They help increase the productivity of stakeholders in the academic world and also, their level of efficiency. This chapter will discuss how IS and big data are applied in engineering. It will focus on how big data transformed the engineering system, its importance, the application of it in the academic field and the challenges it faces as a whole.
