ABSTRACT

In Chapter 5 (“Modern Kleptocracy: 2003–2015”) I provide a detailed study of the Kirchner’s twelve-year period, focusing on how they translated the kleptocratic model developed at the provincial level into a full-fledged rent-extraction machine at the national administration. Within this perspective, I focus on specific sectors: public works, transport, energy, customs and taxes, drug trafficking, monetary policy, social policy, and the media.
