ABSTRACT

This chapter summarizes the key points of what ‘healing the world’ involves: diagnosis and action. It discusses one approach of identifying the ‘key solutions’ we should focus on vs. the ‘pluralism’ approach where every solution is deemed correct. Similarly with healing the world, there are thousands of solutions proposed out there – and they cannot all be correct. In regard to healing the world, for almost three decades society has fiddled while Rome has burned around us. The ‘Great Work’ is our path to healing the world and we won’t get there unless we move past denial – and as a result take that path. However, the big shift is accepting this new task of healing: the Great Work of Earth Repair. The politics of healing our broken planet, and increasingly fractured and polarized Western democracies, involves more than practicing the rights and duties of liberal citizenship.
